Hunter’s legal expertise encompasses a wide range of areas, including representation for workplace and industrial injuries and extensive involvement in coal mine and gas well regulation and litigation. He has a proven track record of success in both state and federal courts throughout West Virginia, representing a diverse clientele of individuals and businesses.
With a passion for courtroom advocacy, Hunter has achieved numerous successful outcomes as counsel for both Plaintiffs and Defendants in civil cases, securing favorable jury verdicts and monetary compensation for his clients. His experience extends beyond civil litigation to criminal defense, having obtained successful jury verdicts as a private attorney and as an Assistant Prosecuting Attorney for the State of West Virginia.
Outside the courtroom, Hunter is deeply engaged in his community. He has served on the West Virginia State Bar Board of Governors, representing the 15th District from 2006 to 2009. Currently, he sits on the Board of Directors for the Preston-Taylor Community Health Center, a role he has held for over a decade.
Hunter’s academic achievements include earning a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from West Virginia University in 1994 (cum laude) and obtaining his Doctorate of Jurisprudence from the West Virginia University College of Law in 1997, where he was selected as a member of the honorary Moot Court Association. His commitment to public service is evident in his previous appointments as Assistant Prosecuting Attorney for Barbour and Taylor Counties, as well as City Attorney for the cities of Philippi and Grafton.
A veteran of the United States Army, Hunter’s service includes combat operations in Iraq during Operation Desert Storm, during which he was awarded the Army Commendation Medal, among other honors. Hunter’s diverse background and extensive legal experience make him a formidable advocate for his clients, providing thoughtful and aggressive representation in every case.

Kate’s legal expertise spans a variety of areas, with a primary emphasis on representing clients in cases involving automobile and trucking incidents, medical malpractice, and product liability. Additionally, she possesses an extensive background in real estate law, providing comprehensive legal support to her clients in this complex area.
A standout academic achiever, Kate graduated as an Honors Program student at Alderson-Broaddus College, maintaining an impeccable 4.0-grade point average before ultimately earning her Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from West Virginia University in December 1993, graduating cum laude as an Honors Program Scholar. Kate obtained her Doctorate of Jurisprudence from the West Virginia University College of Law in 1998.
Following her academic pursuits, Kate began her legal career in the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia before returning to her roots in Barbour County. Once back in Barbour County, she worked as an associate attorney with H. Gerard Kelley in Philippi, focusing on representing injured persons in cases ranging from automobile collisions to slip and fall incidents, product liability, and workplace injuries.
Kate is licensed to practice law in both the State of West Virginia and the Commonwealth of Virginia, and she has been admitted before the West Virginia Supreme Court of Appeals, the Virginia Supreme Court of Appeals, and various federal courts in both states. She is an active member of several prestigious legal organizations, including the American Association for Justice (AAJ), West Virginia Association of Justice (WVAJ), the American Bar Association, the West Virginia Bar Association, and the Virginia Bar Association. Kate’s commitment to her profession is further demonstrated through her previous role as a representative for Barbour, Preston, Taylor, and Tucker Counties on the Young Lawyers Executive Committee of the West Virginia State Bar, where she contributed to the revision of the handbook on Attorney IOLTAs for use by attorneys throughout the state.
