Grafton has received its second round of funding from a settlement against pharmaceutical manufacturers and distributors, with City Attorney Brian Matko presenting a check to the Grafton City Council.

The Taylor County Commission has received another payment from the opioid litigation settlements, part of ongoing compensation after major pharmaceutical manufacturers and wholesalers were held liable for flooding West Virginia with prescription drugs.

The Preston County Commission received another round of opioid settlement funds. Attorney Hunter Mullens returned to the commission with another disbursement of funds from the opioid litigation totaling $203,800.78.

Amber Higgins accepted the 2023 Barbour County Chamber of Commerce Directors Award during the recent annual banquet meeting at Alderson Broaddus University. The award was presented by Chamber President attorney Hunter Mullens.

After seven years of fighting pharmaceutical drug manufacturers and wholesalers who have been blamed for flooding the state with prescription pills, fanning the flames of an ongoing opioid epidemic, local governmental agencies are starting to see their payouts.
